David Nelson:
Thank you Brandy. Appreciate it very much.
Brandy Auterson-Hurst:
So some people have been surprised how well the stock market has performed so far this year. What are your thoughts about the activity of the past couple of months?
David Nelson:
You’re right, there’s probably a lot of people out there, as we hit all time high, speculation grows as far as that there must be a pullback that’s just around the corner. A lot of nervous people. But the reality is, as we’ll illustrate here in a moment, as far as one of the charts that I brought along is showing, as far as that the economy is actually doing quite well and because of that, what we see as far as in the markets, they’re reflecting that. So the chart that I have, I want folks to look at the blue line here that we have. And what we’re looking at is, it’s a pretty simple thing. It’s looking at GDP and it’s also going to factor in as far as inflation. And what we see as far as through this instrument, is that we’re at a 3.2% growth trajectory. Now that if we look over the last several months, that’s a little down, but in comparison to the last 25 years, this is a booming number. It’s 1%, a full 1% higher than the norm, which is 2.2%.
Brandy Auterson-Hurst:
All right, so what does this mean for viewers investments?
David Nelson:
Well, we talk about discipline, we talk about a process, and I guess this just reinforces, I don’t want people to come to the conclusion from what I just said, that the market’s going to continue to charge up and there’ll be no correction. So the process is key. And again, a disciplined process that people can live with is really the answer as far as to people having success or not having success. So follow your process, believe in it, and follow it. Good times and in bad times.
